Who remembers....the continuing saga of Beaufort

Who remembers the original Beaufort "Pig Out",Uncle Billie's annual collard cookout at the radio station on Highway 21?
Who remembers WSIB radio?
Who remembers Sunrise High School in Mossy Oaks?
Who remembers the big bluegrass festival at Point South....I went and woke up the next morning in a parking lot in Johnson City, TN.....Don't ask me how or why!
Who remembers Joel Moore and his hot rod chevy?
Who remembers Bush Baby McCarthy"s VW van and the "trips" we took?

Remember when Harbor Island was just a bare island, completely undeveloped, and the State Of South Carolina was considering buying it for more beach access for all of us?
That purchase fell thru after Fritz Hollings flew over it and queered the deal. Then it fell into private hands and you know the rest of the story - or do you? Do you know about the 10 free parking spaces with free beach access stipulated by Beaufort County as part of the development agreement?

Yes, I remember that traveling to Harbor Island or Fripp Island seemed like you were traveling to the end of the earth on poor roads that often had water flowing over them. When the inn was built on Fripp, most people thought that people would never buy lots and build on an island that was so far from any place. Of course back then most people didn't want to live on the "marsh" either.... Then came the northerners.
