Here is a great information link that everyone in the county would love to have. On page 9 of the BT Extra, a sub-section of The Bluffton Today (Savannah Morning News), an untitled write-up gives everyone access to inspection results from SCDHEC on all local food establishments. You may be shocked at some of the results and change your mind about where you eat your next meal.
The write-up lists establishments on 'our' end of the county that have been inspected resently. Maybe, just maybe, The Gazette could have put this article in somewhere. They may have in the past but I am a bit upset that I get it in an out of state paper.Is there a good reason for this? And is there a better reason that we don't get this paper with our Gazette?

Of coarse all you need to do is look at the inspection sticker on the front door of the restaurant.
The lists may not be updated to indicate the resaurant has fixed the things that need fixing. A lot of thing DHEC checks off can be fixed in a very short time hour or less.
On the other hand there was that Chiness restaurant I was in that I saw returned food to the safe to use bin after it had hit the floor, 'A' rating or not I refuse to eat there.
Well that sticker does not tell me how many trips it took for the inspector to get the place up to code or what was out of code when they came. Big differance in a clogged grease trap and cooler not at the right temp.
Would you have eaten there to begin with if you had known before hand that they had repeat inspections for food handling violations?

If my memory is correct the "Gazette" in years past used to run a listing of our local restaurant inspections, about quarterly. Not a search, but a complete listing of restaurant names and their score.
Yes it would be great not to have to track that down on the net. However I was asking more about the Bluffton Today. I don't buy the Island Packet.I don't want to buy the Island Packet if I don't have to. I get the Savannah Morning News because it is where is was born and i still have family and intrests there. I wanted to know why we don't get it with our Gazette instead of buying an out of state paper to get it?
Not sure if I'm using the site incorrectly or what, but I was unable to find any actual scores. Every time I typed in a restaurant and city (Beaufort) it said they couldn't find it. So yes, I'd love to see that info. Also, in the meantime, can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
EDIT: Never mind! I was able to search by street. Duh me!
