Past Due! UGH!

If you are like me you open your mail box with a combination of enjoyment and trepidation.

It’s a mixed bag normally, a scattering of bills, junk mail, flyers from a local painter or handyman, the latest issue of Sports Illustrated and this time of year plenty of political campaign mailings.

I’ll admit it, I’m a life long Republican, though I voted for Carter when I should have voted for Ford, I’ve voted for every Republican Presidential candidate ever since.

Some how I’ve rated a White House Christmas card from both Bush presidents and even when Bill Clinton was in the White House. So it’s no surprise that I get a lot of requests for political donations from both the GOP and Democratic Party.

Even so I’m rarely upset with all the junk mail. But recently I received a piece of mail that has really infuriated me. A bright yellow envelope with the words “PAST DUE” printed in BOLD RED INK from the Republican National Committee.

Inside a letter from RNC chairman Mike Duncan reminding me of the virtues of being a republican and the vices of the evil democrats soon to be elected Barrack Hussein Obama.

Along with the letter a “2008 Membership Statement” with suggested amounts that I should enclose in the prepaid envelope, apparently in order to avoid further collection action.

Mr. Duncan, you’re an idiot!

During the last 18 months the democrats have exclaimed in a shrill voice that our republican leaders are out of touch, a fact proven over and over again by the Bush administration.

With so many Americans feeling the pressure of an economic downturn, record high gas prices, and home foreclosures sweeping the country, do you really think we need the stress of another “PAST DUE” Notice?

Middle class families are struggling to make ends meet and I’d imagine that many already receive REAL “PAST DUE” notices. Your ill conceived mailing is convincing proof that the RNC is indeed out of touch with America.

Perhaps this mailing is just trying to poke fun at the Democrats, pandering to the struggling middle class or a simple bad marketing ploy.

Either way it’s insulting to those who pay their bills on time and hurtful to those who can not.

As far as I’m concerned the Republican National Committee is not “DUE” anything because you Mr. Duncan, like our President, are astoundingly out of touch.

With leadership like yours we will sadly see an unfathomable landslide victory across all races in all states for the Democratic Party in November.

Perhaps that is the only thing that is long PAST DUE!

Read up on the Roosevelts constant 15 plus percent unemployment rates, and 70 percent tax rates bringing on his longterm depresion economic debaccles before you say out of touch. Barrack is FDR jr.

I'm so old I think I voted for that Republican as well.

Amity Shlaes has a good book about Barracks economics out that is a good read. FDR like Barrack was clueless and was experimenting with the economy, all the while pushing a failed socilist economic platform that kept the unemployment rate at three times, yes three times that of the Bush administration. The unemployment rates here were the typical socialist flunky rate of 15 to 25 percent that socialism seems to be stuck with making it a failed system all by itself. Hey don't worry "the government will creat jobs, lots of them." The problem is, its millions less than the private sector creates.

But doesn't the Bush war on terror effort create jobs? If so what happens with Obama in the White House, and a greatly reduced military in the Middle East?

The jobs part of the war on terror is somewhat of a trade off as there are alot reservists involved who are being taken out of jobs at home. Currently there are aproxamatly 12 to 15 million illegals who are taking jobs with a 5.8 percent domestic unemployment rate. Without the illegals we would have close to a zero unemployment rate even with all the millitary active duty included working in the private sector. Right now there are pockets of unemployment that need to move to where the jobs are, they aparently don't want to. We would have a very low if not a zero unemployment rate in this country. This is amazingly being reversed on the republicans when it should be a praise for President Bush as there are jobs in this country, easily dwarfing the socialist counterparts that Barrack wants to emulate.
The lefts economics are a disaster waiting to be unleashed.

Sure, that would be wonderful. "Throw out all the illegals, and then everyone pack up the pickups and move to where the jobs are". Oh, and by the way, those jobs pay minimum wage - maybe. And oh, by the way, there are no benefits, which means if you get sick, well.... tough. And oh, by the way, with zero unemployment, that means high inflation, which means everything you buy is 20% more expensive now than it was before.

The left's economics may be a disaster in waiting, but at least it's better than the disaster that we already have. The only budget surpluses in the last 30 years have come from Democratic administrations. Isn't it time we tried that again? Maybe figure out some way to tackle that $10 trillion debt that W is leaving us? McCain's solution (same as Bush's): cut taxes to the wealthy and let the little guy pick up the slack.

20 years of Republican "trickle-down" economics have proven that this doesn't work. G.W.H. Bush was right: this is "voodoo economics".

Why would someone go get a minimum wage job with no benefits when he can have the harworking taxpayers pick up the tab for him and he doesn't have to do any of the work? He can just stay at home and collect welfare and food stamps and get free care under medicare or medicaid.
I mean, this is America. Right? Someone with no skills or education deserves a high paying job with all the benefits. Right?
You must be the only leftist who will actually admit leftist economics may be a disaster in waiting. For the last week, I have heard nothing but how great our life is gonna be after the chosen one takes over the White House. Haven't you heard? After he takes all the extra money from the people who don't need it and gives it to the ones who do need it..."from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs"...I thought all the problems will be fixed.
I don't know who told you surpluses are good. For your information, a surplus is when the government overtaxes us. That means they took too much from us and it is only right that they give it back. If they don't, they'll just spend it on "bridges to nowhere" and important stuff like that. Not that deficits are good. In the interest of educating you, a deficit is also when the government overtaxes us, but instead of returning our money. They get so happy spending it that they spend more than they take.
Lastly, when will you guys stop the class envy line of "cut taxes to the wealthy"? Who should get a tax cut instead, the people who pay the taxes or the people who don't pay anything? Do a little research. Tax cuts have worked to stimulate the economy every single time they have been tried. Heck...even your boy Kennedy was for tax cuts.

So Buckey all you have to do is drive to Tennesee from Ohio and they have plenty of your automotive jobs you lost in Ohio. then you can unionize the Jappanese owned plants there and they to will leave. Then you will have to take a boat trip to Japan for work. By the way why arn't you leftist folks unionizing the foriegn owned auto plants in the US. It wouldn't be someting like an anti any company thats American would it be? Then where is Ralph nader with the toyota trucks splitting in half? They are buying back thousands of the defective pickups. They split in half(defective frames)all the way up to 2005's! Made em bad for years all the while they are getting "best initial quality and truck of the year awards" So much for consumer magazines and their no nothing staffs. By the way if they were fords or dodges the left would be howling..........

It humors me to hear Democrats talk about Democrat values and when tasked with explaining those values, they become very defensive. Why? Because their values are really out of touch with ordinary Americans.
Ordinary Americans want a strong military, lower taxes, to protect the sanctity of life, less government in their lives and businesses, better education system, and reasonable health care.
Democrats cannot admit to these values with a clear conscience. They don't care about the military, they will raise taxes, they are pro-abortion but refuse to use that term, they want to require public education on everyone and do away with private education, they want more rules on business, and they want me and you to finance a cigarette smoker's health care.
How out of touch is that? It actually gets even worse. Democrats want to nationalize major corporations because they think of profit as evil. They want to change the constitution and take away your ability to defend yourselves in your homes. If left to their perfect power, they would do what Venezuela's President is doing...taking over radio and tv, newspapers, nationalizing all business and wiping out any opposition. Is that what you really want?

Walmart is in the position to do more about illegal imigration and unemployment in western hemisphere than any one entity, government or otherwise. What they can do is make it a priority to purchase made in Mexico and central America over made in China, or Asia for that matter. This would create jobs, lots of them south of the border leaving many illegals with an obvious choice. A choice many do not currently have. It wasn't that long ago that Walmart was selling and purchasing many American made goods. That has unfortunatly changed but could be made into a win-win situation by helping our neihbors out in time of need. A healthy economy in Mexico and Central America is the best path to stability there. A stable central America is a big plus for the United States, Mexico, Central America and Walmart themselves.

Thanks for enlightening me. This whole time I thought they were in the retail sales business. To make profits for their shareholders.

There’s already people in the business of controlling immigration. They're called The US Government.

You're right though, Wal-Mart can play a role…by following the laws. They shouldn't hire illegal aliens, and if they do, they should be punished swiftly and harshly. I say $10,000 per illegal immigrant working for Wal-Mart or any other company for that matter. Pretty soon, they would all go home. No trabajo, no dinero.

Wal-Mart is an independent private company in the business of providing goods at the lowest price with the sole purpose of making as much profit as possible, or, as I like to say it, in the business of staying in business. Before you knock it, so is every other company in the universe. That includes one man companies like v8powells or stoney_pe. You and I work so we can make money and we wanna do it better so we can make more money, and nobody should knock us for it, so why knock Wal-Mart just because they do it at a greater scale than me or you?

Of course it sounds noble to aspire to only sell American products, or to buy products from countries in need of economic stimulus, but how long do you think that strategy will work if consumers have a choice of buying the 50 cent light bulb from China at Kmart or the 3 dollar light bulb made in The United States of America at Wal-Mart?

True, but most of the manufactured goods in central America are fairly cheap including mexico. I just think its a shame that manufacturing companies went right past allies of ours to give business to a country that I for one simply do not trust. All the while there are millions of people in our hemisphere that are illegally comming here for work when they would go and stay home for that work if there was some. Its also true that most of the illegals work for small employers that are illegally hiring. They shouldn't be. However Walmart, if they were to sell more goods from this hemisphere could help the illegal situation by creating jobs via product demand in Mexico/central America. Walmarts purchasing power/sales are collosal.Of course that light bulb would cost them probably 3 or 4 cents more to purchase. The pay scale is not that different then Chinas. They won't tho, even though they have the power to do so by simply buying off someone other than China.
Also Walmart might actually increase their market area if the economys of Mexico And south of there became stronger......more stores.

but maybe I forgot to say this part. Wal-Mart's job is to sell stuff and make money, not control immigration or stimulate the economy of Central American countries. It would be nice, but it's not their job.
It would also be nice if unions had not driven the price of labor so high in our country and American companies could make good quality low cost products right here to compete low cost products made overseas, but the unions job is to get as much money and benefits for their members, not to worry about what consumers pay or whether companies go broke. It would be nice, but it's not their job.
