Why not adopt Iowa Standards? I can imagine it will be the same nonsense as the PACT with a different name. I saw two consultants walking around the district sipping coffee and observing alleged problem children on our tax dollars. One used to be a principal.

It also seems these folks who should be concerned about our children's educations are only trying to make their own jobs easier by dummying down the tests; in addition to which, most of my chagrin is rooted in the, what seems to me, and in tandem with what you stated, they, including Rex, are more interested with brainstorming on a line of non-sensical words in order to just have a cutesy acronym that THEY can't forget. Come on, look at the five finalists. Is that not sickening. If they'd put that much effort into actually teaching the kids, they probably wouldn't be doing this junk now. I guess they just couldn't PACT enough of their knowledge into our kids' brains to satisfy themselves. With the savvy that our kids now have, these old warhorses must feel threatened. Educators can no longer teach and those that are able to teach, the truly dedicated, have to hold back their bile while those others get "promoted upstairs" when they should be fired. It makes me ill to think how many of our dollars have been wasted on this project. Literally ill.
Wow. Could the state come up with any more asinine of a subject to waste time and taxpayer dollars on? I want to know how the test is going to be different from and more effective than the PACT. I could care less what they name it. Seriously, WHO CARES??
I want to know that my children are being taught what they need to know, and that the standardized test is accurately measuring how well they are learning and retaining the knowledge. Name it The Test, and be done with it.
