Ancestry Library Edition
An article in today's "Island Packet" talks about the study of genealogy. Especially interesting and generally perhaps unknown is that our Beaufort County Library in Beaufort says they also have available the Ancestry Library Edition on their library computers. The article from the Packet is:

For anyone interested in history, to use some of these new and exciting items connected with online genealogy gives us information about our country's history that would be almost impossible to locate just in printed books. Along the way researchers can find out many things about their own family, but that is only a small part of the much bigger picture, of how our country came to be, where we have been, and where we are now.
If one wants to use just their own home computer try these free sites:

ancestry.com is also extrememly good, but not completely frre in all areas anymore. You might also try the Church of Latter Day saints in Utah, they have the most concise and complete genealogy library on the planet.

I think they have a research room in Bluffton. I don't think there is a fee, but donations are not refused. I may be wrong about the fee, but a friend that did some geneology research there said they didn't charge her. Things do change though....

The Church of the Latter Day Saints is www.familysearch.com for internet users. One of their churches is in Shell Point, they have a branch of their library there for researchers who want to order microfilms.
