Andre Demonte Mitchell, Jason Lasalle Black, and Kwamain Nix Arrested Following Drive By Shooting

Three Suspects Arrested in Poppy Hill Road Drive-By Shooting

Beaufort, SC (August 7, 2008)

Three suspects were arrested last night following a drive-by shooting on Poppy Hill Road.

At approximately 6:00 pm last night, deputies responded to the area of Poppy Hill Road and Ihly Road in reference to reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they met with several witnesses who advised that they had seen a black Mercedes driving back and forth on Poppy Hill Road. After several passes, a passenger in the vehicle began firing shots at victim, Willie Tolbert IV, who was walking down the road at the time. The vehicle then reportedly left the area at a high rate of speed. Tolbert sustained no injury during the incident.

Deputies began searching surrounding areas for the described suspect vehicle. A deputy responding to a traffic collision at the intersection of Hwy 21 and Seabrook Road noticed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle's description crossing the Whale Branch Bridge and broadcast the information to other deputies in the area. Another deputy was able to locate the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 21 at Washington Farm Road.

At that time, deputies made contact with the vehicle's driver, 30-year-old Andre Demonte Mitchell of Lobecco, and two passengers: 21-year-old Jason Lasalle Black of Sheldon and 18-year-old Kwamain Nix of Beaufort. Witnesses to the drive-by shooting were able to positively identify Nix as the suspect seen firing the shots at Tolbert, and Mitchell as the driver of the suspect vehicle at the time the shots were fired.

A search of the vehicle turned up three pistols, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and a quantity of suspected powder cocaine. All three suspects were subsequently placed under arrest and charged as follows:

Andre Demonte Mitchell:

Operating Uninsured Vehicle
Possession of Cocaine
Simple Possession of Marijuana

...the Mercedes was uninsured. Can you believe that? No insurance on the Mercedes? Go figure? Cash deal perhaps?.

If the Sheriff was on the ball he would seize the vehicle and sell at auction to defray the expense of the taxpayers for having to deal with these boneheads.

That's a big "if." This little event is going to be expensive enough for the import/export business in Beaufort.......a little turf war... As we all know, wars cost money.

All stand, for the new Beaufort anthem.

Wild Wild West - Escape Club

Forty-seven dead beats living in the back street
North east west south all in the same house
Sitting in a back room waiting for the big boom
I'm in a bedroom waiting for my baby

CHORUS:
She's so mean but I don't care
I love her eyes and her wild wild hair
Dance to the beat that we love best
Heading for the nineties
Living in the wild wild west
The wild wild west

Mandy's in the backroom handing out Valium
Sheriff's on the airwaves talking to the D.J.'s
Forty-seven heartbeats beating like a drum
Got to live it up live it up
Ronnie's got a new gun

CHORUS

Now put your flags in the air and march them up and down
You can live it up live it up all over the town
And turn to the left, turn to the right
I don't care as long as she comes tonight

CHORUS

Heading for the nineties living in the eighties
Screaming in a back room waiting for the big boom
Give me give me wild west
Give me give me safe sex
Give me love give me love
Give me time to live it up

...all three of their heads are tilted stage right. It must be some kind of code or something? I think you're on to something Joe ...it means "Nolle prosequi", That's it, if the suspects head is cocked stage right that means nolle nolle nolle.

Three "Suspects" Arrested?

Suspect:

"In the parlance of criminal justice, a suspect is a known person suspected of committing a crime.

Police and reporters often incorrectly use the word the suspect when referring to the perpetrator of the offense. The perpetrator is the person who actually committed the crime. The distinction between suspect and perpetrator recognizes that the suspect has not been proven guilty. The suspect may be a different person from the perpetrator, or there may have been no actual crime.

A common error in police reports is a witness description of the suspect (no, the witness generally describes the perpetrator, but the mug shot is of the suspect).

Possibly because of the misuse of suspect to mean perpetrator, police have begun to use person of interest to mean suspect.

Under the judicial systems of the U.S., once a decision is approved to arrest the suspect or bind him over for trial, either by a prosecutor issuing an information, a grand jury issuing a true bill or indictment, or a judge issuing an arrest warrant, the suspect can then be properly called a defendant, or the accused. Only after being convicted is the suspect properly called the perpetrator".

*************************************************************************

I still think that when the perp's head is tilted to the side that is code for something! Ha Ha ...I got your original point about the "title" ...just trying to get a good laugh with the tilted head theory.
