Crime Report

Maybe there is not much crime in Northern Beaufort County, but there continues to be quite a lot South of the Broad River.
Read about what is happening there - these new reports are published several times weekly.

Can all of Beaufort County taxpayers continue to provide policing for the Hilton Head and Greater Bluffton areas? Has our Beaufort Council Council members considered increasing, substantially, the annual fee paid to the Beaufort County Sheriff Office? Is it a fair amount? Why cannot SOB provide their own police?

Bluffton has its own police department.
Bluffton has its own police department.
Yes, it does, but what area does it cover? Does it police the greatly expanded area annexed by the Town of Bluffton? Why does the web site of the "crime report" continue to include "Greater Bluffton". Try getting a map of the entire Town of Bluffton - good luck with that. To a causual observer it seems that the Bluffton Police Dept. seems to cover "Old Town Bluffton" only.
Not much crime in Northern Beaufort County? Now that's a confusing declaration based on the stories in the BG, the reports and discussions on this blog, and the higher than U.S. average crime rate for the City of Beaufort. Are the bank robberies, store hold-ups, rapes, beatings, murders, stabbings, and shootings in Beaufort simply fiction/entertainment?

I was being facetious. Sure, Northern Beaufort County has its share of crime, more as time goes on. My point was, maybe we need more police presence North of the Broad - can we continue to police Hilton Head and parts of Bluffton? I DO wish that the Beaufort Gazette would begin to publish frequent crime reports as does the Island Packet. For some reason the Gazette does not want to.
There is more deputy sheriffs in the building in beaufort than on the streets where they belong. Why does it take 40 senior officers to run the department. the street deputies need experienced officers in the streets to assist them. but as always they get no help so when something goes wrong they get chewed out, suspended without pay or fired. not much of a choice. the pay sucks and the decent positions in the department are taken by officers who sit on their azzes collecting a pay check. But its not just with this administration, this stuff has been going on for years.
...to run the department".
Maybe we should move the "40 senior officers" to a tent city. That would make room to move at least a 100 illegals into their offices. Problem solved.
to call a road deputy to take a call in the office. while they play on the internet
Here is July 25 newspaper posted crime report for SOB:

Lot's of crime continues down there.
NOB had a fire on Coosaw Island - is all.
Hmmmmmm.......we had the hold up in the BiLo parking lot
We had the two guys putting a man in a headlock trying to rob them....but wait.....they said they were just playing around
We had the three people shot last night in the bar in Sheldon
I can think of at least 2-3 shootings over the past few months......
Get real...Beaufort County has too many people that want to make a living robbing, breaking and entering, raping, shooting, knifing, you name it...anything but an HONEST Living.
The sad thing is that when one of the career criminals finally meets his make with someone legally defending themselves...we will hear from the family of the criminal about how good he was.....give me a break....
Beaufort County has too many career criminals with nothing on their mind except the next victim.
a 60% high school graduation rate may have a lot to do with this little stat.
