Beating the heat

It's so hot that...Well, go a head and fill in the blank.
They're doing some work on the air conditioning at work and that oppressive stickiness is starting to creep over me. And, really, I don't want to rely on the A/C for all my cooling needs...that adds up. I've been keeping popsicles in the freezer to help cool me off, but I'm wondering if anyone else has some awesome tips for keeping cool.

I suggest taking a "vacation day" and go kayaking with a cooler full of cold whatevers. You can hang your feet over your kayak into the water or just splash yourself to stay cool. It's a great way to stay cool, enjoy the beautiful rivers, and get exercise while you're at it.
If you don't like the physical idea then just go to the beach with a chair, and sit in the edge of the water. Nothing better
There is nothing better than a few hours in the water at Hunting Island. And, I really like how they've dealt with my least favorite part of the beach...sand. They have shower heads at various levels that make it so much easier to clean off your feet and legs.
If you have to stay in the office, try an ice pack on the feet and the back of the neck. That's worked for me.
