passing RUNS. What outright ...un-adulterated ..COWARDLY...SHAME!! For someone who fought so hard on DUI cases? I am all for freedom; BUT show a "little" dignity. No Scruples what-so-ever! NONE!

Vote pimping 101......WHAT SHAME!!!
There is plenty of justification for the Mayor NOT resigning, but people don't seem to be using it to try and stop him. For example, the technique of using an example of a worse mayor elsewhere. The Mayor of Detroit is still in office after much more serious scandals that made the national news.
Also, the fact that Beaufort has been such a "forgiving" place in the past is being ignored. People who have been CONVICTED of much more serious crimes such as illegal drug crimes have been forgiven to the extent of being elevated to important positions within the community.
And then there is also the favorite saying of some people when an undesirable characteristic of Beaufort is mentioned by others. If those folks don't like the way things are in Beaufort with the elected Mayor, why don't they just leave?
Now that that has been completed, what now? Won't Donnie Beer now take control? BTW, after she is elected to office, won't she be the first woman Mayor?.......maybe the White House will be next. LOL
Donnie Beer is not the Mayor Pro Tem. George O'Kelley is the Mayor Pro Tem and it would be his duty to be acting Mayor until November.
From the City of Beaufort Code of Ordinances:
Sec. 1-2002. Mayor pro tem.
(a) The council shall, at the first meeting of the newly constituted council after any general election for city council, elect one (1) of its members as mayor pro tempore for a term of two (2) years.
(b) It shall be the duty of the mayor pro tempore to act as mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor, or in case of a vacancy in office of mayor.
Baldeagle14, thank you for bringing me up to date on the present council positions. I obviously thought that Beer was in the position of Mayor pro tempore. That's some relief, because I was expecting to soon hear about some more tax money being spent over in Pigeon point.....at least that will be delayed until after the next election.
How about those other points regarding forgiving the Mayor for his transgressions, etc? Did anyone ever find out if someone locally set him up or "helped" him connect with that California firm? It seemed far away enough from Beaufort to be a safe business activity.

I never say never, but Beer probably has a better political machine with money working for her. She has the support of developers, etc. which is where the money is in Beaufort. Based on her voting record, etc. one could not imagine that she would have been elected last time, but she was. People will view her as safe, pro-development, etc and she will most likely be elected by people who know very little about her except for her name and a few talking points put out by the "right" people. After all, how did Stewart ever get elected to the BC council his first time out?
BTW, does Beer still drive that big old car that guzzles gas? And has she ever had a real job since she arrived in Beaufort?......just curious. Some people even think that she is a native Beaufortonian.
