The Mars Phoenix Lander, which arrived a few weeks ago at the North Pole of the Red Planet, seems to have with it a high tech gadget thats been used for years by pilots here on Earth as a weather forecasting tool. The image below identifies the unit - this image was taken directly from the official NASA Mars Phoenix Lander website:

Now, I am not a licensed or accredited rocket scientist and I do not spend the last evening at a Holiday Inn Express, but, the BELOW image looks suspiciously like the image above - only without the sign. Hopefully they did not send up the sign because they figured no one would see it, not simply that they forgot it. Actually, HAVING the sign would have added greatly to the humor effect of the Mars Weather Stone . . .

You just have to wonder if finally NASA has gotten the clue that simple is better!
