This morning, five special needs classes from Beaufort Elementary visited the National Cemetery to put out flags for Memorial Day. The kids really seemed to love being outside and I'm sure it's a big help to the cemetery staff as well. As Joan Fazzino, one of the teachers, pointed out to me, placing a flag is something all the kids, regardless of their physical abilities, can do.

Other groups have also volunteered time at the cemetery...hundreds of flags were already up when I go there this morning.

So kudos to the kids from Beaufort Elementary that I met this morning and to anyone else who has or is planning on planting some flags this week.
