Speaking of sign ordinances...

What would it take to pass a law banning political signs all over our highways. They are at every intersection and just littering the county.
Why can't the politicians pay for ad space in the Beaufort Gazette or on a billboard just like every other business in the county has to do?
What an ugly mess.

...cheese?
Why can't the politicians pay for ad space in the Beaufort Gazette
I hereby nominate this for 2008 Post of the Year. :)
Now that's funny.
Over at the paper in Columbia (a sister publication) they write bad articles about business and then ask them to buy advertisements to counter the negative publicity. Kinda makes organized crime look like lightweights.
Now that is about as funny as a big fat woman pretending to have quintuplets. Oh wait, that was the Beaufort Gazette and their ace reporting and fact checkers.

I agree, I think they make Bft. look nasty with them everywhere!!
But, I think the prevailing mentality is that not enough people read the paper so further "in your face" ads are necessary to get the message out. Sad!
in a timely fassion that is after the election. The signs remind us there is an election coming up. Not everyone reads the paper. Not everyone watches the news. Iactually put my first political bumper sticker on yesterday. I haddn't really ever felt the need to campaign for anyone till now, but if I decide to put a sing in my yard, I will. I don't live on Fripp or Dataw.... So I'll do whatever I want.
Should you vote for someone just cause you saw their name on a sign? Or because that joe wilson's got such a nice smile? No. But if you know who's campainging by the name on the sign and you meet this person out, or get the opportunity to see them at a venu near you.. you might go, listen, and see for your self if she/ he is the person for you.
the election is in November signs have been out for months now. It seems as if they are always out.
I have no problem with yard signs or bumper stickers. That is an individuals personal property. My problem is the politicians don't have to live by the same rules the rest of us do. Can a business just go put signs along the highway where ever they want?
that they should be able to diistribute them to people and those people can put them in their yard, but I'll agree that just everywhere on the side of the road is tacky.
