Hardeeville Leaders Resign..City Manager Shane Haynes, Jeff Slocum and Kevin Griffin and Councilwoman Bea Jones
"The city of Hardeeville's leadership is shaken up tonight after several resignations. It stems from Tuesday's election, which brought in a new mayor and two council members".
"Rumors have been floating around since the election about what would happen at tonight's council meeting. Many heard that the current council would resign before the new one was sworn in".
"In some ways that happened. This week -- City Manager Shane Haynes asked for the resignation of the two assistant city managers: Jeff Slocum and Kevin Griffin. Those resignations have already been accepted".
"Today, the city council asked Haynes to resign. Haynes' resignation is effective May 23rd".
"Also today, Councilwoman Bea Jones resigned, effective immediately. She told those attending today's meeting that she's planned for years to leave Hardeeville and buy a farm and that's what she's going to do".
"Leaders have asked City Attorney David Tedder to serve as acting city manager until a new person is hired. A Hardeeville spokesman is not sure when that search will begin".

"City Attorney David Tedder to serve as acting city manager"
"City Attorney" and "City Mananger" and "Assistant City Manager"
Only in Hardeeville South Carolina would you have a town managed by an attorney in Beaufort. AMAZING.
Are you saying Hardeeville's city attorney David Teddler is the same as the attorney in Beaufort by the name of David Tedder?
yep, it's a plot by the BCSO....., or maybe once again UCB is simply clueless.
Rodney.. So sorry man! They have no idea what they have done.
Bea, I wish you and Mike the very best!! Enjoy it out there and don't forget to send a Christmas card. We'll keep your picture propped in a chair during the GOS w/ a beer. :o)

The answer is "yes"
...she plans to move out of state".
A Hardeeville councilwoman's resignation Thursday night means taxpayers will soon foot the bill for a special election. The Jasper County Elections Commission says the cost will be more than $1,000 and the process is time consuming.
Councilwoman Bea Jones submitted her resignation Thursday night saying she plans to move out of state. Friday she said the decision didn't have to do with the latest election results but that the people say they wanted change and that's what they'll get.
“I wish I could have done it a better way. I do,” Jones said.
Jones' announcement came hours after the firing of two city assistant city managers for the City of Hardeeville. Then, the City Manager was asked to resign.
No date yet on the special election, we'll let you know when we get the word.
Friday, the City of Hardeeville released the following: "The city will continue to provide our citizens services. The grass will still get cut. Plans will still be reviewed. In short, everything is up and running and will stay that way as city staff helps in the transition to the newly elected council."

Thanks, UCB, for clarifying that. With the incorrect spelling of the name in the WSAV article, it had me confused. It just seemed real strange to me, but I should know by now not to be surprised by what goes on around here. Not knocking the area, I love it here, just some things are "vewy, vewy stwange".
