"Pasquotank County investigators served a search warrant at the house on the 100 block of Birdie Lane in the Matthews Acres subdivision Wednesday night, after the arrest of Osmany Palma, 35, in South Carolina on Saturday"...

"Palma was charged with trafficking marijuana after authorities in Ridgeland, S.C., stopped him on Interstate 95 and found about 30 pounds of the illegal substance in his vehicle, Cartwright said. He is out on bond."

The South Carolina authorities contacted Cartwright's office Sunday when they learned Palma lived in the area, which prompted the search of his home.
