So the thinking is that the St. Helena students need to stay at St. Helena to play catch-up before they come over to play with the "big" kids at Lady's Island Middle. Hmmmm......soooooo ALL 5th graders at St. Helena need to play catch-up? Can the ones that don't need this so called help come over to the middle school for 5th grade? Can they opt-in? (I guess they could but that would mean they need their own transportation while the "other" kids get free transportation from the district). Sorry folks but this sounds awful fishy to me and I don't mean fresh fish either.

NO 5th graders ( 10-11 yrs old) should be going to ANY junior high school! It was bad enough when they put 6th graders in there.

Junior Highs Schools went out in the 1980's (of course there are a few left in the country and even in this state. Middle schools and intermediate schools are the rule now (but with every rule there are exceptions). There has been a lot of success with k-8 schools as well.
My apologies. Guess I showed my age LOL. You are correct.. Middle School.
No way in the world, would I let my 10 year old go to LIMS, RSMS, or WBMS. Shoot, even my 12 year old had issues @ WBMS with bullies. We all know the teachers can't be everywhere all the time. I'm not willing to risk my children's safety for some experiment.
There is nothing "fishy" about Trusdale to those school board members who want to believe her intentions are pure. It just looks like she is isolating the St. Helena students from the rest of the population to those of us who are not so gullible. Next she will propose making St. Helena Pre-K through 8th grade. Or,has she already? What does this accomplish? It keeps the poor test results of St. Helena from tainting the test results of the middle school. Does that have bonus implications for the superintendent? Are there legal implications to her pure(?) intentions?
I sure ol hermy could solve this. Float another bond referendum, snooker the voters, and build some more buildings we don't need and can't afford.
