Local Pastor says billboard hottie must go
In case you haven't noticed there's a new girl in town and she's quite a woman. In fact she's nearly coming out of her clothes, what little she has on. She adorns a billboard near Stokes Toyota and is an ad for a local plastic surgeon. If she's evidence of the good doctor's handiwork then I nominate him for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Now a local Pastor is calling for her removal. It seems we cannot allow this evil to permeate our sacred town. Not only must she go but I feel the Pastor would just as soon the surgeon go with her.
I have a hard time believing the picture is evil, however I do believe that if a person sees this as a sinful pornograpic depiction of women then I'd have to question the conscience of the viewer. A great body whether earned through exercise or bought on the operating table is a thing of beauty.
Pornography is bad, plain and simple. Plastic surgery ads....I dunno. If the locusts arrive then I guess we'll know.
btw there are two side issues on this topic.
a. There are two of these billboards, one is near Stokes and the other is near Malphrus Const. Now folks in the know will see the humor in this.
b. If you drive these roads and haven't noticed the signs then you may need to get your T levels checked.
I'm out.

Have way too much time on their hands. What's the Good Pastor's reasoning-is it going to corrupt our children and lead us down the path of temptation? Or is he just jealous HIS wife doesn't look that good!
Some people equate lots of skin with porn, but the world community doesn't agree. After all, many of the great artists have nudes both in paintings and sculpture. And even nude baby pictures show lots of skin.
The difference is the setting. Most nudes in art display innocent settings and body language. Viewing nudes as an art in Rome has the faces and body language in innocent poses, so a feeling of sex or lust is not the issue.
One of the blogs on Tne Lowcountry Weekly was about the recent photo of Miley Cyrus. I thought it was inappropriate. She is looking at the viewer in a way that makes her look like she is gazing at her lover after a one night stand. A different pose, even holding a kitten or looking away smelling a rose would have changed the body language and interpretation toward innocence.
However, some photos or images do project sex and may inspire lustful feelings and that can be pornographic. Haven't noticed the billboard in question maybe because I haven't been that way.
But regardless, people will view these in different perspectives.
I have not heard which Pastor has raised concerns over this billboard ad, but I can probably venture a guess and get it right. If it is the Pastor I am thinking of it is a good thing the model does not have a body piercing or a tattoo showing in the ad, because she would be labled a Heathen or something worse..(Rhymes with "store") LOL
. . . is no longer paved with good intentions, but, apparently, tummy tucks and breast enlargements. Perhaps even the occasional liposuction or botoxing is a sign of the end of the age. If thats all it took, geesh, folks have been worrying about the signs of the end and all it takes is a boob job.
I am personally against breast 'enhancement' since it feels like a bag of saline stuck on your chest. don't ask how I know.
She is definitely not wearing low country casual however.
How do you raise a G-rated kid in an X-rated world? Why does everything have to be so "in your face"? This pastor has a right to his opinion. And while I am on my soapbox, have y'all noticed some of the decals on the back of some peoples vehicles? Just what I want my elementary children who are learning how to read to notice! Oh, and the comment about the two businesses-not funny, just MY opinion.

Sorry if my choice of wording caused you to think I meant "funny", as I didn't. I used humor to indicate a temporary mood or frame of mind: "Obama is in a bad humor today."
But you obviously knew that which I alluded.
I misunderstood what you were saying. I do see the irony in where the boards are.
I'm not even in the area anymore to see this controversal billboard, but I can iagine what it looks like. The biggest thing I'm worried about is body image. How girls and women view themselves and how boys and men view them. It's no wonder there's such a problem with anorexia and bulemia when advertisers say that the only way a guy will think you're sexy is to be a size 3 and a 32D.

I find this interesting since I've always been lead to believe that women did these things (boobs and butts) not to appeal to men but rather to compete with other women.

And your point is?
