It came to my attention that schools are out in other parts of the state tommorow. Would some one like to tell me why school is out and some offices are closed in our state capital and not everywhere?

Sounds like a good holiday to me! Also opening day of bike week in Myrtle Beach. I think we should all take off tomorrow and have a beer fest.

When I lived in Pennsylvania, school was always out on the first day of doe and buck season because they knew a lot of people would be out anyway.
It does seem weird, though, to have a state holiday that is not universally off.
I thought this particular holiday was voted on county by county? Not sure though.
It's a State of SC holiday that was added when they made M L King day a state holiday, taking away an optional holiday (employee's choice) and Election Day holiday.
