Coosa's annual Dr. Seuss Read across America

Celebrated on every March 2, Coosa's annual Read across America in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday was a great success. Twenty-seven adults and 15 students were guest readers and greeters, which meant that every classroom at Coosa had a guest reader. Adults included members of the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, some of Coosa's business partners, local church and community members, and parents. Students are members of the Kiwanis-sponsored K-Kids Club. A volunteer dressed in a Cat in the Hat costume visited each classroom, too.

Thanks for posting this information, I had not known about this.

Checking the Coosa web pages just now, there was no mention of this celebration at Coosa on either it's home page, the principal's page, or the accelerated reader page.

My thanks also go to the participants.

An employee at the school that doesn't blog asked me to post it. One of the positive things going on there.

I did not read to them
in the third grade
They would not have, no did not
No one asked me, 'fraid twas not

I read there last year
yes I did
when I was Board Chair
asked they did

this year this year
did not ask
I had a big frown
yes i did

So I called them
to complain
no one answered
was the refrain

reading reading
to the kids
did not worry
about me they did.
