I'll have you know that I enjoyed 'Lizabeth a whole heck of a lot!
You truly do not think that was a good movie?
Coming from a person who studies 1200 - 1600 I think she did a wonderful job with the costuming and completely deserved that Oscar.

She might have deserved the Oscar for costumes - OK, we'll give you that - but our gripe was with Blanchett being nominated as best actress in a movie that was widely panned by critics. Actors rarely get nominated for playing the same character in a sequel, and this was an obvious extension of how much the Academy loves Cate Blanchett.
But, to be honest, we're not really THAT upset. We had to fill a three hour live blog.
That is very true. But! She is a wonderful, talented actor. And hey! Why pick on Cate.. whats that little girls name who played the pregnant teenager? That had to of been a really hard role to play, pretend like a third of the teenage girls in America! Whew! She got that spot on didnt she!?
Sequels can make the big time. The Godfather II won best picture after the original had won...what two years before hand?
why the insistence that even women are actors now? In a coupla year it'll be "Best Male Actor" and then "Best Female Actor." Words mean things to convey the sex of the person being referenced in the word. It is not intended as a slam or an insult - i'd be a male actress if I could win an Oscar.
Sorry, I have always looked at all of them as Actors. They act for a living. I think weve had this conversation on the blogs before too. Didnt mean to stir the pot again.
Well, look, we're not going to debate Ellen Page vs. Blanchett. We're not sure how you "act" like you're pregnant, as if that is all the character is. Wait, I'm pregnant and a teen? OK. Got it. Action!
And we're not dissing Blanchett. We really think she is super. Honest. Cross our heart.
But here are the list of actors/movies nominated in sequels. Godfather II. Lord of the Rings, all three. Paul Newman in Color of Money. That's it. That's the list. We just don't think her performance in that overblown borefest deserves to be on that list.
