Someone told me yesterday that an Olive Garden was going in by Arbys and Good Year. Have you heard anything about that? If you posted on this topic I must have missed it.

I have heard the same rumor, and I check in with the property owner, Stafford Properties, once a week. They won't confirm that Olive Garden is coming to that site, but do acknowledge negotiations are taking place with "several sit-down and fast-casual restaurants."

I also talked with a spokeswoman at Olive Garden's corporate level a couple of weeks ago and she said there were no plans to open a restaurant here. Of course, I've written in the past about how companies are coy when it comes to their plans, for obvious competitive reasons.

I have been told by Stafford Properties that they are also considering putting a hotel on that site, and there's a rumor that a Panera Bread is coming to the development complex. I'll keep calling Stafford Properties and report any news I can confirm.

I understand your point about companies not wanting it to get out that they may or may not be coming.

I was told by somebody who's husband works at Beaufort Glass that Beaufort Glass won the contract for putting up glass in the Olive Garden...So I was under the impression that it was a done deal already. But I guess it could all just be rumors. After all, there have been rumors of an Olive Garden coming to town for years and years!

Very true as well. I remember years ago when they were going to put one out by the Food Lion by Laurel Bay. Remember that?

Im not saying that I dont want one, in fact I would love one. I just wanna gear myself up for it... let the excitment build up to stand in line for hours waiting to get in the door. HAHA!

A Panera Bread would be fabulous too! They have great sandwiches and soups and their bagels are really good too. Has anyone ever been to a Potbelly's Sandwich Store before...I would love to see one of those. And of course, a Target!!!!!!!!!!!!
