Dont Shop With Dell
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DELL!!!!!
I have had so many problems with the screw ups that it is not funny.
My fiance and I bought a computer through dell way back earlier in the year when they had the tax free weekend, so there was no tax on the computer.
The computer got here between early to mid August. They have up on their site something that says that it can take 45 days to get your first bill. Well, by the mid October I called to see why I had not recieved my first bill and they told me that I was already behind by two payments! I was like WHAT!?!?! It turned out that some how or another they got the billing address WAY wrong. But they wouldnt let me do anything with the account being that it was in my fiance's name. Although I have the computer. I can answer any security question they have for my fiance, and ironically the number that they have for the account is MINE! Not to mention, the computer was delivered to MY HOUSE!
So I had to inconvience my fiance to call them, FROM AFGHANISTAN I might add you. He added my name to the account and they waved the late fees. My minimum payment per month is $40. We gave them $300 within the past two months. Here it is December, and they are telling me that I owe them MORE money!?!
Then I get a call from Dell Financial wanting to know why I hadnt made a payment yet! I STILLLLLL havent gotten a SINGLE bill from them. Then they dont want to talk to me because the account is in his name and they didnt add me to the account when he asked them two TWO MONTHS AGO! Now they are trying to charge me late fees again for a bill that I have NOT recieved, not to mention we are ahead on our payments by more than $100!!!
Then, I'm on the phone with Dell Financial and he gives me the number to customer service so that I can talk to a person and figure out what in the heck is going on and why I'm not on the account and still havent recieved a bill. So I call them up, wait on hold for ten minutes. Type in all kind of numbers on the phone. Then I hear that they are sorry but there are no representatives to talk to me because the office is closed. What in the heck!?! Why did the guy give me the number to call to talk to a person if he KNEW that there was nobody to talk to. So I called them back and chewed them out and asked why they wait so late to call me? If you want me to take care of something call me during business hours so that I can take care of it!!! HELLO!!! So then the manager that I'm speaking to by now procedes to tell me that its chosen at random. DONT BOTHER CALLING ME IF I CANT TAKE CARE OF WHAT I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF!!! Call me during normal business hours so that I can speak with whom I need to speak with!
Dell has been nothing but a hastle from the get go. I'm here to tell you, and everybody else not to shop with them! My Fiance's mother bought a computer for her daughter at the same time, the very same day, and they have been having nothing but problems out of Dell too. Do not shop with Dell!!! They have crappy customer service and cant get their heads out of their butts!

Having you been making the payments online?
Sorry you are having problems but I have bought 4 Dells at 3 different times and have not had a problem. Dell probably contracts the finance accounting with a private firm just as other businesses do and even our county government and BJWSA do. Screwups in computer accounts can be either easy or hard and it sounds like yours is hard because you are not the primary account holder. Have your fiance contact them by letter and have her authorize you as a equal partner and able to transact changes.
I also have a Dell and love it.

I'm sorry you are having such a bad time with Dell. We currently own 4 Dell Laptops and 2 Dell desk tops (all purchased within the last 5 years) and my husband has a Dell laptop at work too, and we have never had any problems with any of them. We have also used Dell Financial Services once or twice when they offered no interest financing and they have always been courteous and helpful when I have spoken to them on the phone. I have always made all my payments to them online and have never had any issues.
I had more problems with Dell today!
My fiance called and made a payment and told them to add me to the account again so that I can take care of this stuff while he is gone and they told them that I wasnt on the account. They told him that I was already on the account, so he couldnt add me again.
Now... If I'm on the account, why is Dell Financial telling me that I'm not? So Dell financial calls me on MY phone to talk to my fiance, and I tell them the situation then they refuse to talk to me because yet again, they tell me that my name is not on the account! I had to get pretty nasty with the guy and ended up hanging up on him because he refused to tell me why he was trying to get ahold of my fiance, on MY phone none the less.
As soon as I got home from work, I called Dell XPS Customer services, because we have a Dell XPS computer and thats who my fiance had spoken with previously today. I talk to him and he cant find my name anywhere on the account. So he transfers me to Dell Prefered Account Customer Service because we have a have a prefered account with Dell. The lady that I spoke to told me that my name wasnt on the account either! I was like now wait. Why everytime I talk to anybody at Dell, they tell me that I'm on the account, and why everytime that my fiance speaks to anybody at Dell, I'm on the account? She couldnt explain it. Oh! I got my VERY first bill in the mail today too. Got the computer in August, and December I get my first bill. I see on there my minumum monthly payment, plus late charges, so I go through the roof. I tell the woman that I'm not paying for their mistakes, and I end up having to talk to her supervisor.
Her supervisor and I eventually got everything straighted out after I reminded her that my uncle was previously the vice president of motorola, and he is best friends with the guys from Dell. I got her badge number and told her I was going to call him as soon as I got off the phone with her, then she took the the late charges off the bill.
Why do people have to be so stupid?
Really,it's all the same.. They haven't singled you out but you do feel some resentment to the typical corporate overlaps/exclusions. Hope you and that Warrior got it all straightened out. We are proud of what he is doing although we don't know him personally. But my Nephew does...
