BHS Championship Game

Maybe I'm just not in the right places, but I'm somewhat perplexed at the lack of community support I've seen for the Beaufort High football team as they prepare to make the trip to Columbia this Friday for the Division II State Championship game. It appears that the last football team from this area to win a state championship was Beaufort High - in 1945! This is a big deal folks! We all spend a lot of time criticizing the youth of our community, and we are all quick to jump all over them and call them stupid punks when they make poor choices and decisions, but where are we when they have accomplished something this big?

Every single business and school in this town that has a signboard should have a message for these boys; how wonderful would it make them feel to see that type of support as they ride out of town on Friday afternoon?! If you are interested in going, the game is Friday night at 8:00 pm at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. You can purchase advance tickets for $8.00 (they are $10.00 at the gate) at the Beaufort High Athletic Office. They are also taking fan buses; you can call the school for information.

I have no sons who play football and I have no children who attend Beaufort High, but I wouldn't miss this for the world. I have been blessed to get to know personally or cross paths with several of the young men who make up the Beaufort High Eagles football team: Michael, Caleb, Sam, Kyle, Justin, Alex, Patrick, Shane, Brandon, Josh, Dalvin, Thomas, Blake, Beau, Matt, Hayden, and Seth, and, while I do not know the rest of the team well, I have been honored to watch them play. They have earned this place the sports history of Beaufort and they have earned our respect.

Thank you to these young men who have gone out every Friday night since August and played their hearts out for our entertainment. They, and their coaches, have allowed us to come along for the ride and what a ride it has been! Good luck and God speed fellas, and whatever the outcome of the game, you have made us so very proud. Thank you!

After sitting at all the games this year and watching these boys play their hearts out and afterwards being respectful to the other teams and their coaches, I have always been so proud of them. We have some awesome kids out there. I, like grammy, have no kids going to Beaufort High, all my children have graduated and moved on to college, but I still go and support these kids. They deserve all the support and love that this community can give them. Devan, Brandon, Adrene, Andre, Logan, Justin, Judson, Michael, Seth, Sam, Blake, Scoop, and all the rest, these boys are wonderful and deserve our support. Some of these boys will go on to play at college, most will not, this will be their last game, we need to show our support and love to them. If you cannot go to Columbia Friday night, which I really hope you will, please be on the parade route Saturday to celebrate our student athletes and come to the school at 1:00 for the gathering of athlete's, family and friends. I promise it will be well worth your time to meet these wonderful students!
Boys, we will be there in our Eagles gear that we have worn to every game (can't break the tradition, superstition runs strong!) to support you and cheer our heads off. Thank you for your dedication to your team and to your school, your pride in being an Eagle shows strong!
Coaches we trust you to do your best to make this the best BHS game ever, thank you for this wonderful season and having such good kids on your team. Thanks also to your dedication to these boys, for showing them how to be strong and dedicated to a team, for doing all you do for them. And thank you to your families for being so understanding in all the time it takes to create a great team. We so appreciate everything you have done.
Thank you Walgreens for your wonderful banners on your sign. We are in Eagle Town!!
Let's Go Eagles!

My apologies to the BHS cheerleaders, who have braved the heat, rain, and cold to be there to cheer the team on to victory; they also deserve recognition! Thank you girls!
GO EAGLES!

Every Beaufort High alumnus needs to be at that game friday night. We need to put as many people as we can on our side of the stands.

As of Wednesday night BHS has reservations to fill SEVEN charter busses for fans. (Seperate busses for adults!) If you are interested please contact the athletic office, I think they may charter more if needed. You can also pre-purchase your tickets and pay $8 instead of the $10 you will pay at the gate.

Regardless of the outcome please join together to celebrate a great season and honor the players and coaches.
BHS gym, Saturday 1:00.

There are also at least 3 small, privately owned buses going to Columbia. This is in addition to the many who are driving private vehicles. Come on and join us folks; this is your chance to support the youth of our community!
GO EAGLES!

BMS also has one. It's a shame that the business community has not stepped up with public signs of support. In any case, here is one family that could not be prouder of the football team, the cheerleaders, the coaches, and all the regular season fans. Whatever the result of tomorrow night's game, our hats are off to you all! Good luck and God speed!
