So this is what they meant
For months people have asked me if I had been through a S.C. summer. Nope. You won't believe how hot it gets, they told me. Evidentally, they can't believe it this week either. It's the first time the heat has prevented me from doing things outdoors. I equate it to sub-zero temperatures in the north during the winter. I'm getting cabin fever. The good thing is the heat won't last.
In the meantime, I'm doing what I used to do in the winter: cooking. Sounds crazy with the heat, but I not a good sitter-stiller, so I have to be doing something. I've already cleaned the house and washed the dog, so cooking's all that's left. That's OK. I love to cook. Today, muffins and quasadillos. Tomorrow, turkey cannelloni.
What do you do when it's too hot to go outside?

Stay inside mostly at the computer when I'm not working. I'm recuperating from surgery now.
I set the thermostat on 80degrees and go outside. When I get too hot, I return to the house; that is twenty degrees cooler than outside. A ceiling fan works well also. I do leave the dogs in the house; although I bringing them out for short periods.

I have no complaints - next week when it's 90 we'll think it's a fall day....I just feel for those less fortunate who have to work and live in this kind of heat....
It's hot, no doubt, but it isn't snow, ice and freezing. I'll take the heat and the A/C any day. So be it.
I have complaints but just for small talk. I have worked in heat, cold, wetness, dryness, wind, ect. Staying inside, running electricity doesn't make or change anything for the better in the long run. Living too easy makes you die hard. Less fortunate are those who hide from the elements...in my opinion.
A colleague and I were just talking about that. We enjoy the heat. All week, I've driven around with my windows down. I have air, but I want to experience the heat. (I also feel guilty for driving in this weather. It makes the air quality so much worse. Only to work and back, I swear!)
I also HATE air conditioning. I avoid it whenever I can. This week has been an exception.
Along the same line, up north I loved to be out in the snow. The more, the better. It's different and it forces you to acknowledge a climate, an atmosphere. All 70 degrees, all the time does keep one out of touch with reality.
A little discomfort reminds us of our "place." We are not the masters of the universe.
When its hot during the day, the early mornings and evenings are real nice, borrow someones convertable or a motor cycle...........
You have a good outlook on the weather down there. Just how do you make them things (Quesadillas) anyhow...Can you use Cobia in them? Cooking is one way to expand creative energy for sure. At the Station, we take turns impressing each other with healthful foods and we can cool a house down in a hurry...LOL
