sanford praising DOT

typical government rubbing each others back. DOT did the job they are paid to do. That is expected. It is the company hired to do the repairs who deserve the praise. They are the ones out there working their butts off to get this done. If i remember correctly the declined any bonus ($$$) for the job being done ahead of schedule. If that had been offered to any govt. agency they would have jumped all over it. They probably would have demanded it if it wasn't offered. My hats off to the guys on the bridge actually doing the work!

We've been duped. DOT overstated the completion date on purpose to make them appear to be getting the job done ahead of schedule. People do this all the time. I even do this at my job to make my department look more productive.
Let's give credit where credit is due. Regardless of any speculated "overstating" , this potentially crippling situation has been, at worst, a minor inconvenience.
DOT, EMS, the construction crews, law enforcement and the citizens of Beaufort have worked together to make these past couple of months tolerable.
Don't get me wrong, I have certainly grumbled now and then. But, I can not tell you how much I have mangaed to accomplish sitting on that bridge. I am very proud of our community and officials for the way that the situation has been handled. It could have been so much worse.
WOW, I was thinking along the same lines when I read the article.
