STATE OF BASTARDS

Jim Hite is a senior fellow of the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University of South Carolina . where he was an alumni professor of agriculture and applied economics , Wrote If South Carolina continues on the trend of the last thirty years, we will become a state of bastards, crime will rise, a larger and larger percentage of the population will be unemployable in a high-tech economy, and life will be poor and nasty.

COLUMBIA --
A program aimed at preventing teen pregnancy in South Carolina will be eliminated by the end of the year, despite a recent rise in teen pregnancy rates, the state agency that oversees Medicaid said Friday.

The program served 6,742 children last school year and targets at-risk girls ages 10 to 19.

The program defines at-risk girls partly by poverty, whether their parents or siblings were teen parents and if they've been abused or previously pregnant.

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.

Act Now!

The Anti-Obama Hate-Fest

The Republican Party, which has defined modern-day negative politics, was back at it again, bashing Barack Obama and the news media in an ugly display that rivaled the old days of Nixon-Agnew - or George W. Bush's last convention where GOP operatives passed out "Purple Heart Band-Aids" to mock John Kerry's war wounds.

After a slow start because of Hurricane Gustav, the convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, has turned into an anti-Obama hate-fest with a nearly all-white gathering laughing at and mocking the nation's first African-American presidential nominee of a major party.
