Why have a holiday

It came to my attention that schools are out in other parts of the state tommorow. Would some one like to tell me why school is out and some offices are closed in our state capital and not everywhere?

Beaufort Memorial, their Doctors and just plain broken. For the ones that have forgotten the oath for greed.

I know this is not a new subject but... I know this Doc can read and does.

Beaufort Middle School lock down

Does anyone know why the parents didn't get a phone call or e-mail about the lock down at Beaufort Middle today. According to my son a sixth grader was making threats to "kill all the sixth graders with a shotgun" and they locked the school down. Anyone else know about this? The School would not indulge me with any details. Or explain why we were not informed.

Signs, Signs, everywhere there's signs

I wake up this morning and walk out to get my newspapers and look up and down my street as I do every morning. Something looks different. What I saw really takes the cake. All I saw where Newton signs standing. Funny it was not like that last night. All of the Ceips signs were on the ground or half down. I return inside and called a friend who is a mechanic for a local shop in Shell Point to ask about my car problem. He had to call me back because he was at the shop rehanging the signs they have there. Funny. I have seen how they (the shop crew) put the big sign up out there.

Personal thanks to the county council.... morons!!!!

I have stayed off this blog because of the bandwagoneers of bad mouthers that never seem to learn that sometimes they just need to shut up. I fully expect that here today so all of you just hop on the watermelon truck and bring it on.

I haven't eaten in a restarant in this town in well over a year. Being as local as you can get without being born here this act should say alot about more than just JP's Place. I do however go out with my friends in my downtime. I love going and watching Monday night football and meeting the large varity of people both local and tourist that come out at night. I work in a place where I am frequently asked where someone can get a great meal or go have a drink and still do not bat an eye in suggesting a locally owned business. Never a chain or a place I know is not owned by someone that has lived here long enough to cross over from transplant to local (That would be someone that IS giving someone good back to this town). Dick Stewart should know what I'm talking about on this note. I will never see him as a local (love what you did to Ribualt Squares signs BTY.... TACKY AND GENERIC!!!) because his developement is turning Beaufort into a bad version of Hilton Head. But I am not here to bash one person so I'll get to my point.

A very sad day for all animal lovers.

I have spent the last few days with my kids glued to Animal Planet watching all the tribute shows to Steve Irwin. Much of the time was spent laughing at his alluring attitude and quirkiness that got them watching his shows in the first place. Well tonight was his beautiful memorial service that was broadcast worldwide. Again the kids were glued. It really hit me that for many kids worldwide this is the first experience they have with the death of someone that they loved. This is the case for mine. And boy do my kids love this incredible man! All through the service they laughed and cried and made sure I knew which scenes that were shown they had seen. This was a heart clutching time that even had them putting their little arms around me as I cried with them. It is my hope that for all of us on these blogs with kids that you sat with your kids for this service and talked to them afterwards. Or in my case I let them talk to me. They have lost a life long friend that they never got to say a single word to.

Information in the wrong newspaper. Why?

Here is a great information link that everyone in the county would love to have. On page 9 of the BT Extra, a sub-section of The Bluffton Today (Savannah Morning News), an untitled write-up gives everyone access to inspection results from SCDHEC on all local food establishments. If you don't happen to get the Savannah Morning News here is the link- http://www.scdhec.net/health/envhlth/food_protection/scores.htm
You may be shocked at some of the results and change your mind about where you eat your next meal.
The write-up lists establishments on 'our' end of the county that have been inspected resently.
