BHS Soccer team wins again! Caution - It's sports!

The Eagles beat Stratford 1-0 tonight to move on to the next round. They will play at home again on Saturday evening at 7:00. Congratulations boys!

Another sports related note - there was a very nice write-up about Devin Taylor in today's State paper. Here's the link:

BHS Wins round 1! Caution - Sports related!

Grammy decided to support the BHS soccer team this evening and enjoyed watching them beat Ridge View 3-1 in the first round of the Class AAAA state playoffs. They will host the next round at BHS on Thursday at 7:00. Come on out and enjoy a little soccer!

Adracer??

I was expecting to see a report on the BHS vs BCHS baseball game; how did our boys do tonight? I hear it was a great night for the BHS girls with a JV/Varsity sweep. The BMS girls also notched another win, along with my two Tiger girls' teams, so it was a great softball evening for Grammy and her crew - busy, but great! We almost didn't feel the cold..... almost! LOL!

Adracer

Keep those BHS sports blogs coming, Dad!

Beaufort High Theater ROCKS!

My granddaughter and I had the pleasure of attending the final performance of Beaufort High Theater's "Back to the 80's" on Sunday evening. We were completely entertained from the time the curtain went up through the curtain call. Every single person in the cast and crew is to be commended for the obvious effort that went into the performance. A personal shout-out goes to some cast members who hold a special place in my heart: Sam, Bryan, Amanda, Andrew, Gloria, and Chelsea – you guys totally rocked, and I’m so very proud of you all!

Is it just me?

Is anyone else getting the obviously old 'developing' stories at the top of the page when it opens this evening? There are at least 4 old stories right at the top right now; one about weather and 3 about the presidential campaign, all with IP bylines. It's really weird! I know at least twice in the last week or so (this morning being one) the daily news did not appear to be uploaded by 8:00 a.m. either.

New kid in town - check it out!

BEAUFORT TODAY is now publishing a weekly LOCAL paper. It's published on Fridays and is available free at many locations throughout Beaufort, as well as being inserted in the Savannah paper if you subscribe to that. Here is a link to the on-line site:

http://www.beauforttoday.com/

Since the Gazette is now moving all the main offices to Bluffton (yes, they are - the only thing located in Beaufort will be a little satellite office), I hope that BEAUFORT TODAY will fill the void that many of us have noticed over the past several months.

BHS game time is 6:30 Tuesday

BHS hosts Summerville in first region basketball game on Tuesday, January 8th at 6:30 pm. The start time shown in the Gazette is incorrect.

Here are the correct winter break dates for the schools if you are interested

The dates for Beaufort County Schools are listed incorrectly in the "Holiday closings" section here and in the print edition of the Gazette. The traditional calendar schools are closed through Friday, January 4th (resuming Monday, January 7th), and the year-round calendar schools are closed through Friday, January 11th (resuming Monday, January 14th.)

BHS Championship Game

Maybe I'm just not in the right places, but I'm somewhat perplexed at the lack of community support I've seen for the Beaufort High football team as they prepare to make the trip to Columbia this Friday for the Division II State Championship game. It appears that the last football team from this area to win a state championship was Beaufort High - in 1945! This is a big deal folks!
