A very sad day for all animal lovers.
I have spent the last few days with my kids glued to Animal Planet watching all the tribute shows to Steve Irwin. Much of the time was spent laughing at his alluring attitude and quirkiness that got them watching his shows in the first place. Well tonight was his beautiful memorial service that was broadcast worldwide. Again the kids were glued. It really hit me that for many kids worldwide this is the first experience they have with the death of someone that they loved. This is the case for mine. And boy do my kids love this incredible man! All through the service they laughed and cried and made sure I knew which scenes that were shown they had seen. This was a heart clutching time that even had them putting their little arms around me as I cried with them. It is my hope that for all of us on these blogs with kids that you sat with your kids for this service and talked to them afterwards. Or in my case I let them talk to me. They have lost a life long friend that they never got to say a single word to.
Steve Irwin, May the wind always be at your back....
